The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), under Bangladesh’s Ministry of Education, oversees Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) nationwide. DTE manages 49 government polytechnic institutes, 64 technical schools & colleges, 1 Technical Teachers Training College (TTTC), and coordinates with Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) for curriculum, examinations, and BNQF/NTVQF certification. It drives competency-based training reforms serving 1.2 million annual enrollees targeting 25% youth participation by 2025.

DTE implements Digital Bangladesh through tvetacademy.online e-learning, AI-integrated assessments, VR workshops, and Learning Resource Centres across institutions. Recent initiatives include Industry 4.0 curricula (mechatronics, renewable energy), teacher upskilling via ADB programs, and public-private partnerships with RMG/shipbuilding sectors. DTE’s National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) alignment advances SDG 4 equitable access amid 17.18% current TVET penetration.

DTE coordinates SEIP, GIZ, and World Bank projects modernizing 300+ institutes with smart classrooms, digital libraries, and RPL systems. Its 2025-2030 Strategic Plan emphasizes green skills, gender inclusion (35% female target), and digital competence frameworks, positioning Bangladesh as South Asia’s TVET leader
