Outside of the official school system, vocational training provides a vital chance for many people to learn skills that will be beneficial in the workforce. The BBS survey asked everyone aged 15 and above if they had ever received vocational training and, if so, how long it had lasted, where it came from, and what type of training it was. Only the most essential training was discussed if someone had taken more than one training course. According to the data, an estimated 1.9 million people (about 1.7% of the entire working-age population) have taken formal training courses outside of the regular education system. For both sexes, the proportion of training in urban regions (3.4% vs. 1.1% in rural areas) was significantly higher.
According to 2016-17 data, numerous projects trained thousands of new learners. However, there is a question mark on the project data indicating the same person took training for multiple projects. As we can see, only 1.7% receive formal training, putting us well short of our 2041 target of 30% by 2031 and 40% by 2041. So we need a standard database where all projects may submit their detailed enrollment data to obtain accurate enrollment statistics.
And, in my opinion, in order to increase TVET enrollment, we must improve our awareness processes and involve more industries in the process.
